Competition in focus Magazine Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the world's tallest statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on October 31, 2018. October 31 also marks the 143rd birth, anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Ironman of India. Named as the 'Statue of Unity', competition in focus the statue constructed on Sadhubet island at Sardar Sarovar Dam near Kevadia Colony in Bharuch district of Gujarat. competition focus The foundation stone of the Statue of Unity was laid down by then Gujarat Chief Minister Anandi ben Patel on October 31, 2014 on the occasion of Sardar^-Patel's 139th birth anniversary. The construction work of the project was awarded to leading engineering company, Larsen and Toubro.
